Believe in permanence
People are more anxious about the future than ever before, despite 300,000 U.S. nonprofit organizations trying to address societal issues.
Much has been invested in treating symptoms of a broken society, and addressing symptoms alone is not enough.
For a permanent fix, we need to go deeper.
We need to take control of the root cause: land capitalism.
How should we play Monopoly?
Extra cash
Instead of everyone starting with the same amount, let’s have some players start with 2x, 5x, or even 100x the regular amount.
This reflects the real-world distribution of wealth.
Starting properties
Instead of all properties being available to all players, let’s give some players a handful of properties right at the start.
In the real world, some people are born to pay rent, and others are born to collect it.
Slower dice
Instead of everyone using the same dice, let’s give some players 5-sided dice or 4-sided dice instead.
For many people, lopsided access to education and enrichment immediately limits their opportunities.
Marty Chang, Founder
“The game today is stacked, and the stakes are too high. Losing the game should not mean losing food, shelter, and dignity.
Let’s square up the starting lines, and let’s give second through last place another real chance. Then we can genuinely celebrate the winners and move on as friends.”
Politics are fickle. Land is permanent. Let’s build the future we know is possible, one property at a time.
